Operation Organization

I am in need of some major organization in my apartment, therefore I am in need of inspiration. Truthfully, sometimes it's hard to get motivated by my one bedroom rental, which we truthfully live in due to the amazingly cheap rent, but...I know some better organizing and editing will help. Here are some ideas that I found while trolling the web:
This first inspiration pic features some floating cabinets which would be great solution for my landing strip. Right now it's always a treasure hunt to find my keys, the dog leash and sunglasses before a mad dash out the door. via
I also like these homemade shelves that I found via Apartment Therapy, rustic and functional, these would look great along the longest wall of my apartment. Now to enlist my husband for this project...

DosFamily = Endless Inspiration

Ahhh, how I look so forward to another DosFamily house tour. This most recent does not fail to evoke oohs and ahhs and wistfulness to somehow be Swedish...The kitchen in this house is the be-all-end-all for me. I love the simplicity of the subway tiles, the built-in shelves, the naked bulbs, the white, white, white that is just so Swedishfabulous. via

Cath Kidston

Even though its not my typical style, there is something so charming and sweet that I just love about Cath Kidston. It's such a treat to get their catalog in the mail because along with all of the brightly colored eye candy there are fun articles, interviews and even a new "book club" section. What's not to love?

Military Scale Models...YES!

Obviously this is a post from the husband, hi, and today's topic is scale models. It's fun, kind of inexpensive (most military models run you $50, yikes!) and relaxing. I just finished a model called Rommel's Rod, a Tom Daniel design reissue from the 1960's.

At any rate, I had a blast building it, tongue firmly in cheek. My Dad, an amazing automotive scale modeler, even helped by hand-carving miniature bottles which I painted and added labels to. I've attached a few photos of my projects. At any rate, I enjoy it. Ah, 55 miniature plastic pieces, all the same color, pages of instructions, hours of building. Then you have to paint it! Zen.

scavenger hunting for blogs

I love discovering blogs that are new to me, and it can often happen via the domino effect. While perusing Dosfamily I came upon the inspirational blog Hello Tiger, where I then found the fashion fun blog Camp Comfort, who had a link to the colorful Wear Palettes. Lots of new eye candy.

Accessorize My Emotions

After the Monday I had, this brooch might be just the new accessory that I need for work. A subtle hint to the boss--possibly passive agressive, but more lady like than some gestures that come to mind.

New Year and New Motivation

The hubs and I sad little blog has gone by the wayside for too long. I have been in an uninspired rut, so it's time to get off my butt (yes, that conveniently rhymes) and get some projects under way.

First of all, my one bedroom apartment needs some organizing and a new lease on life. I think my favorite website to go to for inspiration and blatant stealing of ideas is Dosfamily. Their house tours are topnotch for amazing and real lived-in design. This is one of my favorite pics from their site (pic on the left); from the black wall, to the contrasting white walls and floors, to the pop of color from the dining table, to the gold light fixture, to the vintage wallpaper peeking around the corner...its all really imperfectly perfect.

Ahhh. So here is to the rebirth of our blog and hopefully the beginning of getting my creative mojo back. Onward and upward!
